Planning Commission Decision Concerning The Shops at Stratford Hills Has Been Continued for 30 Days
At their January 3rd meeting the Planning Commission decided to continue their decision on this for 30 days. Watch our Facebook page for the new meeting date.

The Southampton Citizens Association (SCA) wishes to apprise you that the City of Richmond Planning Commission is scheduled to review Harper Associates’ plan for rezoning the side parcel in the previously forested area that was clear-cut last year and to build an Autozone and Valvoline on Forest Hill Avenue .

It should be noted that SCA opposed this construction
for 1) a failure to commit to landscaping evidenced in its worst form by the removal of all of the trees 2) tenant mix and 3) existing vacancies in the shopping center.

SCA encourages neighbors to attend the February Planning Commission meeting at City Hall ( 5th floor). Date to be announced

Our Next SCA Meeting isTuesday January 16th@ 7:15

Our monthly membership meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 16th at 7:15 p.m. at the Southampton Recreation Center at 3201 Chellowe Road.

We will be briefly updating on the developments of the possible sale of the Jones and Jones facility on Forest Hill Avenue. We will also be discussing the closing and the pending sale of the Southampton Baptist Church.

The main discussion will be focused on the developer's plans that will be back before the Planning Commission in early February for the proposed development at the Shops at Stratford Hills. The hearing last week was deferred for 30 days and there have been changes that have been agreed to by the developer. The SCA position last year was in opposition to approval of the CUP. The new Board of Directors would like to hear from the membership again and the Board will be prepared to bring new information to the membership that needs to be addressed and discussed so that the membership can be informed of the new developments that will be presented to the Planning Commission.

Please make the effort to attend if your schedule permits. As you know, the work at the Publix Store is well underway and this will be a great and positive addition to the center.

We would encourage all members and interested neighbors to attend.

The Southampton Citizens Associations meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month.
Everyone is welcome
